Jerry Salley's Celebration of Life

Rev. Jerry Lee Salley Rev. Jerry Lee Salley, 62, died November 23, at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. Visitation is at 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, at National Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Services are at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church of Clarksdale, with burial in Memorial Gardens of Clarksdale. Rev. Salley was born in Indianola, MS on October 31, 1943. He was the son of the late Oscar E. and Edna Timbs Salley. He graduated from Delta State University. He was involved in many aspects of education and administration at Coahoma Community College and Agriculture High School. After 27 years of working there, he retired as an assistant to the president. After retiring, Rev. Salley attended Memphis Theological Seminary graduating with a Master's Degree of Theology. He served as the Assistant Chaplain at Baptist Desota Hospital in Southaven, MS. In addition to ministry, he also traveled the country presenting "Jerry Salley as Mark Twain." In the past he served as a Methodist minister in Friars Point- Lula and Longtown Charges. He was currently serving as the minister of Sageville and Wesley United Methodist Churches in Meridian, MS.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Chalk Salley, of Meridian, MS; daughter, Liza Salley Shannon of Columbus; son, Christopher Lee Salley (Kristi) of Siloam Springs, AR; daughter, Carol Johnson Borgognoni (Danny) of Lambert; son, Carl Johnson (Cindy) of Oklahoma City, OK; brothers Oscar E. Salley, Jr. of TX and Danny Salley of TN; sister, Edna Salley Jennings of AR; grandchildren, Merrill Frances Kemp, Anna Carson Kemp, and Ella Grace Shannon of Columbus, Laura Kathryn Salley and John Christopher Salley of Siloam Springs, AR; JP Borgognoni of Clarksdale, Andy Borgognoni of Pell City, AL, Melissa Borgognoni of Lambert, Jenni Borgognoni of Hattiesburg; Brian and Evon Wolfe and Cierra and Virginia Johnson of OK; and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers include: Christopher Lee Salley, Whitman Bell, John Branning, Toby Lofton, John Mayo, and Truman Thompson. Honorary pallbearers include: Michael O' Keefe, Jack Dodson, Ritchie Dickson, Andy Ray, John Moore, Kenneth Denley, Sandy Stillions, Greg Hazelrig, Marty Gaddis, Barry Murphy, Floyd Graham, and BJ Barrett.
